Winner of the Los Angeles New Play Project Award
In Paranormal Inside, Max, a Thai-American father-to-be, believes his body is being possessed by an evil entity. So he seeks the help of a long lost friend: Delia, a Black businesswoman who’s tried hard to repress her psychic gifts. Together, they form an unlikely alliance to face dangers unknown, and both of them must confront a past that demands to be remembered. From the creative team behind the acclaimed play, The Brothers Paranormal, comes a new supernatural thriller full of sharp humor, bone-chilling terror, and unbridled emotion. The play was launched at East West Players in Los Angeles and closed November 2, 2025; it continues on to Perseverance Theatre in Juneau and Theater Mu in Minneapolis in 2027.

Reviews for the Los Angeles Production
Forbes
“Gomolvilas’ haunting tale is elevated by Liu’s direction and the creative team. Liu finds a good balance between humor, drama, and fear among the characters, using superb sound, lighting, projection, and visual effects to heighten the stakes and to evoke the feelings that each character experiences, including the scariest moments. Paranormal Inside is a frightening yet witty and entertaining tale of spirits and life that beautifully explores identity, grief, purpose, and found family.”
The Nerds of Color
“Rife with pathos, humor, and supernatural tension. All the actors get ample opportunities to shine. Tamika Simpkins as Delia and David Huynh as Max…are given such harrowing tasks of conveying an unbelievable amount of buried pain and for the latter, the excruciating physical task of being possessed. There is a scene that ends Act 1 that will completely floor you. A crackling home run hit.”
We Live Entertainment
“Filled with humor, mystery, and introspection as some amusingly flawed people grapple with something far bigger than themselves. Director Jeff Liu stages the production with skill and imagination, peppering the show with a few surprising special effects that add to the fun. Stylish, suspenseful, and thematically ambitious, Paranormal Inside confirms Gomolvilas as a playwright unafraid to blend genres and cultural perspectives.”
StageSceneLA
“Jeff Liu returns to direct Gomolvilas’s latest with accustomed dramatic-comedic flair, and just as was the case with The Brothers Paranormal, dynamite duo Huynh and Simpkins deliver a pair of powerhouse star turns that allow each of them to stretch their dramatic muscles like they’ve rarely been stretched before, and in Huynh’s case, to simulate demonic possession so authentically, it can’t help but leave him physically drained. A humdinger of a theatrical thrill ride if there ever was one.”

"Skillfully helmed by Jeff Liu, Paranormal Inside is the perfect vehicle for a Halloween spooktacular. The talented ensemble cast keeps the chills coming as a reign of ghostly terror begins to fill the air."
Look Who's Blogging
"A haunting story that lingers long after the lights fade. Blending emotion, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural, this powerful play explores what happens when the past refuses to stay buried. It’s eerie, heartfelt, and one of the most unforgettable stage experiences this fall."
