Synopsis

Prince Gomolvilas tells stories, Brandon Patton sings songs, audience members win prizes. Jukebox Stories is a critically acclaimed two-man variety show that features true tales and tunes ripped from the headlines and from Prince and Brandon's own unpredictable lives. And since the audience helps choose the set list at random at every performance, no two shows are ever the same!

Acclaim

"Jukebox Stories replicates the amiable informality of a gathering of old friends. The selections may be random, but there is still an organic cohesion, a satisfying blend of humor and poignancy. The pieces are political, personal, funny, biting, sad, raunchy, and above all honest. And because each night's selection will be different, it's an experience that invites repetition!"
East Bay Express [2006]

"Jukebox Stories takes a classic idea and gives it a modern spin. Fun, fresh, and decidedly untheatrical. Jukebox Stories is a sturdy piece of post-modern cabaret, and Gomolvilas and Patton nicely fill their roles as hip, urban troubadours!"
The Oakland Tribune [2006]

"A delightfully flippant theatrical event. While such hyperactivity would hide a lack of substance in lesser performers, Patton and Gomolvilas’ sincerity fosters a real connection with the individuals that they are performing for. After two hours of songs and stories that are funny and sad, Gomolvilas and Patton feel like old friends. A definite artistic success!"
The Daily Californian [2006]

"The stealthy vaudeville of the presentation is one apparent reason for its appeal to a relaxed yet excitable audience. Pointed and funny!"
Berkeley Daily Planet [2006]

"Highly original. Dynamic. Innovative. A wonderfully kinetic, organic, and one-of-a-kind performance. It's hard not to long for more!"
Listen & Be Heard Weekly [2006]

One of the Top Ten Plays of the Year! "Jukebox Stories is fun and thoughtful, sincere and silly. Features a line-up of songs and stories that changes every night!"

The Daily Californian [2006]

"Delightful running jokes, audience participation that actually works, a satisfying finale, and showmanship bordering on hucksterdom. When Patton sings, 'Help Me Get Paid to Talk About Myself,' not only don't you mind the $15 you paid to hear them do just that, but you might come back again to see what's in the mix next time."
East Bay Express [2008]

One of the Top Ten Plays of the Year! "An endlessly entertaining grab bag of songs, wry anecdotes, and blog entries that could be enjoyed again and again because every night was different."

East Bay Express [2008]

"The duo is so entertaining with what amounts to a high-tech variety show, they could do bird calls and still charm the cynicism out of their audience. But what makes the Jukebox Stories show...so hugely engaging is how it is all delivered in a low-key, unassuming style that constantly winks at its audience and never plays down to it."
San Jose Mercury News [2013]

"The two differ completely in character and bring separate forms of performance art to the table but manage to balance each other out perfectly. It is this harmonized dichotomy that gives Jukebox Stories its individuality and makes the show one of such high caliber. So hats off to both of you, Prince Gomolvilas and Brandon Patton, for crafting a fantastically sublime theatrical experience."
The Daily Californian [2013]

"Both Gomolvilas and Patton are assured, charismatic, and hilarious performers. Between all the witty storytelling and banter and knowing that you're only hearing a fraction of it, it's a show that you may well want to see more than once. If you're anything like us (and even if you're nothing like us), you may want to go early and go often."
